Badminton Net Height

Badminton is a sport, played either in singles or doubles, which was first played by British citizens living in India. It is a racquet sport, meaning that the projectile, called a shuttlecock or birdie, is hit by the players using a netted racquet. The object of the game is for the players to volley the shuttlecock back and forth across the court, never allowing it to touch the ground or hit the net. Badminton was introduced as an Olympic sport in 1992. In competition, the dimensions of the court and the height of the net are considered to be very important, and must be perfectly correct.
Correct badminton net height
A badminton court is shaped like a rectangle. Each player stands near one of the shorter ends. The total length of the court is always 44 feet. If only two people are playing a game of one-on-one, the court is 17 feet wide. This width is marked by an inner line along the longest edges. If the game is played with doubles, the court is extended to a width of 20 feet. This width is also marked by a line along the long edge, outside of the single player line. The net is set up between two poles, which are always situated at 22 feet along the length of the court and over the 20 foot width line, even when only two people are playing. The net should hang at five feet and one inch near each edge and stand five feet tall in the middle.
It is not particularly necessary to have exact measurements with the net height if you are playing a casual game of badminton with friends; however, setting up the net correctly can often make this fast-paced game even more challenging and exciting.
